If you plan to develop a Food Safety Program for your vegetable farming operations, field or greenhouse, this workshop is for you! Most intermediate or large chain store buyers now require some level of food safety program from each farm before they buy. Even smaller operations selling directly to consumers may be advised to develop a manual for their farm. This issue will become even more important in the future.
The University of Florida/IFAS Cooperative Extension Service is offering a workshop to help growers actually develop their own food safety manuals. When you complete the workshop, you will have an electronic, printable copy of your own manual.
This hands-on workshop will be conducted on computers using a web-based food safety manual development program. While participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop, upon request, one laptop per farm will be provided. The instructors will also provide some computer assistance, but if you are not familiar with computer basics, you may want to register your computer savvy helper to take the workshop with you. If you have questions about basic computer skills recommended, please contact Lydia Von Borstel; Tel: 386-362-1725, ext. 109; Email: lvonborstel@ufl.edu
