Airport

The closest commercial airport is Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)

50 minutes north of St. Augustine. (The Northeast Florida Regional Airport, which is right in St. Augustine, is available for private and chartered planes only.)

From JAX, you will need to arrange for ground transportation to St. Augustine.

Please note: Taxi service from JAX to St. Augustine is estimated at over $100 USD; conference organizers recommend renting a car or booking a shuttle.

Rental Car:

Shuttle:

There are various shuttles available to get from JAX to Flagler College in St. Augustine. Consider these options:

Public Transportation (bus)

Public Transportation is the most economical way of getting from Jacksonville to St. Augustine, but it is somewhat complicated and time-consuming (over 3 hours).

From the Jacksonville Airport, you take two JTA buses to get to the Avenues Mall. From there, you take the Sunshine Bus Company shuttle (Purple Line) to St. Augustine. Please keep in mind that the bus only holds 14 people per trip, so it’s best to arrive in advance.

JTA buses to Avenues Mall ($3)

  • Take Route 1 to the Main Bus Terminal
  • Transfer to Route 7A to get to Avenues Mall

Sunshine Bus Company shuttle to St. Augustine ($1)

  • Take the Purple Line from the Avenues Mall to St. Augustine. (The next to last stop on King Street drops you off fairly close to the Flagler College campus.)

Greyhound Bus

A Greyhound bus is also one of the most economical way of getting from Jacksonville to St. Augustine, estimated at $11 USD. However, you will need to find a way from the airport to the station (located at 10 N Pearl Street). JTA public transit can get you there for $3, but the route will be slow. Your best bet is to use a taxi service from the airport or to use Uber.

MMM4 stands for the 4th Mangrove and Macrobenthos Meeting. This meeting is an international discussion on the causes and consequences of mangrove ecosystem expansion in an ever-changing climate. Join us this year in St. Augustine, FL on the historic grounds of Flagler College.
