Ecosystem-based management of Florida natural resources is place-based and spatially explicit. GIS is a valuable tool for natural resource managers and scientists who integrate, analyze, and communicate data pertaining to a region, watershed, spring shed, or catchment.

To support the continuing technical education of faculty, staff, and agency professionals, University of Florida faculty will conduct a 3-day introductory training workshop in the use of ArcGIS 9.3, a powerful tool for managing natural resources and guiding growth and development processes. The primary objective of this training is to provide novices with practical, hands-on instruction in the use of GIS by using natural resource exercises.
