Special Issue Theme: “Science-Based Management for Results in Coastal Seas”
Deadline for Submission: December 1, 2011

Hello EMECS 9 Registrants! We hope that your travels home went smoothly and that you came away from EMECS 9 with many new contacts.

As was mentioned at the conference, EMECS 9 is collaborating with the Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science (ECSS) journal to publish a special issue on “Science-Based Management for Results in Coastal Seas.” Due to travel difficulties posed by Hurricane Irene, there were several colleagues who were not able to make it to the conference last week. As such, the invitation to participate in the journal will not be exclusive to EMECS 9 participants, but will be open to all who are willing to contribute a relevant, scientific article focused on the theme “Science-Based Management for Results in Coastal Seas.”

Following is important information on how to submit your paper for peer review:

All papers must reflect the special issue theme “Science-Based Management for Results in Coastal Seas.”
Full papers (not just abstracts) should be submitted via the ECSS website http://ees.elsevier.com/ecss/, and follow strictly ECSS formatting (detailed in the same website)
- After reviewing the author information, formatting instructions, etc.; you will need to register with the ECSS.
- Once you have registered, you will be able to submit your paper. Be sure that your paper has been properly
formatted according to ECSS instructions before you submit your work.
- Use the links in the navigation bar at the top of the website and follow instructions to successfully submit your paper
for peer review.

**NOTE: When submitting your paper, you must select the SPECIAL ISSUE icon or your paper will NOT be considered for the ECSS special Issue “Science-Based Management for Results in Coastal Seas”.**
The Deadline to Submit your paper is December 1, 2011
Dave Nemazie, Osamu Matsuda, and Zhongyuan Chen will be the guest editors of this issue. Questions regarding the journal should be directed to Dave Nemazie at Nemazie@umces.edu.
